Vienna, June 27 , SPA -- The weather forecast for the Sunday's Euro 2008 final between Spain and Germany in Vienna is fine after thunderstorms on successive days Wednesday and Thursday affected the semi-finals, according to dpa.
"It won't be too humid, not too hot, a little wind," a member of the Vienna weather office said on Friday. Vienna was hit by thunder and heavy rain on Wednesday and Thursday night. On the first day, the storm is said to have played a role in a lengthy TV blackout from the semifinal Germany-Turkey in Basle, Switzerland. The TV signal to almost all countries was provided in Vienna. Another storm hit the Austrian capital on Thursday while Spain and Russia played the second semi-final in the city. The ruling body UEFA said that the playing field had not suffered from all the rain.
"Even though it rained quite a lot we were really satisfied with the playing surface after the match, so we are quite confident that the pitch will be in excellent condition for the game," said UEFA spokesman Thomas Giordano. The Basle playing field had to be exchanged halfway through the tournament after having suffered from heavy rain. --SPA
